Summer programme demonstrates real world STEM careers in action
This summer, Lasham Airfield was once again a hive of activity when almost 500 students took part in TurnPoint’s immersive Summer Engineering Experiences, delivered in partnership with 2Excel, offering a unique blend of classroom learning and hands-on exposure to aviation engineering.
Working with 2Excel’s Training School team, the programme was designed to be inclusive and impactful and not only provided valuable experience but also helped raise awareness of the career pathways available within aviation and engineering.
Michael Irving, Training Manager at 2Excel Engineering, said: “As a STEM Ambassador, it has been an absolute privilege to have represented 2Excel, whilst collaborating with TurnPoint and the Investin teams to ensure the students gained a valuable insight in to the world of engineering, additionally supported by our fantastic Aircraft Maintenance Apprentices who were equally keen to showcase their own learning journey to the TurnPoint students.’’
Andrew Perkins, CEO of TurnPoint Ltd, said: “It’s always a pleasure working alongside 2Excel to reach and inspire the next generation through our Summer Engineering Experiences. By connecting students with real-world STEM applications and industry professionals, we’re helping to build a strong and diverse pipeline of future talent.
“What sets 2Excel apart is its genuine commitment to this programme. The team’s enthusiasm and engagement are exceptional, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to collaborate so closely.
“I continue to be impressed by the scale and strength of 2Excel’s operations. As a leader in UK aircraft engineering, 2Excel is perfectly placed to help young people discover the opportunities and rewards of a career in this field.”
