Aircraft Ground Handler & Refueller

Full-time, permanent (40 hours per week)

The post holder will carry out the following key responsibilities:


  • Refuelling and Defuelling Aircraft when required
  • Fuel quality checks on Daily, Weekly and Monthly basis
  • Maintaining accurate records for the above
  • Erecting scaffolding as required for aircraft maintenance
  • When not required for refuelling to assist the Aircraft Ground handling team with aircraft movements and materials handling
  • Supporting with facilities maintenance and hangar cleanliness during quieter periods
  • Large and Small Aircraft Towing and Ground Handling
  • Supporting the departure and arrival of aircraft, including operating as part of the airfield fire crew as required


Previous work experience as an aircraft refueller is essential and a knowledge of JIG regulations an advantage.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate they can work safely and efficiently within an aviation environment and have the following skills:


  • Candidates must hold a driving licence to be considered for this role, with a HGV rating an advantage
  • Comfortable working at height (appropriate safety equipment will be provided)
  • Previous experience operating forklift trucks, cherry pickers and cranes will be a significant advantage.
  • Ability to cope under pressure, juggling multiple priorities whilst maintaining attention to detail and ensuring high standards are maintained
  • Polite and courteous manner
  • Able to follow instruction, whilst also displaying a can-do attitude with initiative to ensure all jobs required are completed in a timely manner
  • Excellent team player and communicator


The role is offered on a full-time basis with normal working hours being 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as non-guaranteed voluntary overtime is highly desirable.
